Ellipse
Challenge

The sports aircraft manufacturer Ellipse is like Porsche among ultralights. The unique design of their machines enriches the historic Spitfire shapes with modern materials and thoughtful aerodynamics. Our task was to engrave the unique shape of the aircraft’s wings to the branding and underline the elegance of the entire brand.

On the Wings of Inspiration

We tested the aircraft firsthand.

At the beginning of the collaboration, we took a trip to Albrechtice and went through the entire production hall. Designers could literally touch the brand, perceive individual details, and the actual size of the aircraft. And because there’s no substitute for experience, we got into the ultralights, and the entire team flew in them. The unforgettable experience helped us fully understand the uniqueness and thinking of the Ellipse company.

Logotype with an Elipse

You won’t find any similar sports aircraft in the world. The wing shape is so unique and typical that there is no way the brand wouldn’t reflect it. We even used it when crafting the logo. The result is minimalistic and gives an aerodynamic impression.

We intentionally chose contrasting colors. They primarily appear on the planes, which should be easily recognizable even from a great distance. We worked out the specific shades with the paint shop to ensure the colors we suggested exactly matched those that could be painted in reality.

model names

Ellipse Spirit, Luna, and Hype

Our task was also to come up with the names
and overall design for the three series of machines the company manufactures. For each aircraft,
we created a sub-brand, its characteristic name, color, and visual.

The basic model in blue got the name Spirit.
The luxurious series shines with gold color and carries the designation Luna. The last is the red sports aircraft Hype.

Aircraft Appearance

The ratio of white to black is surprisingly important.

Although we were given creative freedom, we had
to take into account the physical limitations that come with sports aviation deal with. One of the key factors affecting the temperature in the cabin is the ratio of black to white color. Therefore, we regularly consulted on the appearance of individual aircraft.

Another important part of the aircraft design is
the mandatory legislative elements and marks that we had to incorporate into the visuals
in such a way that they complied with regulations and were easily readable.

In Search of the Perfect Color Shade

Each new owner receives an operating manual, brochures, and promotional items with every aircraft. We designed these to match the colors of the individual models.

The most difficult part of the implementation was finding the ideal shade of colors.
It appears on the aircraft, where we work with paint, you can find it in applications such as banners or
t-shirts, and also in the online environment. In all these places, for instance, the red color of the Hype sub-brand should appear the same.

Aircraft Interior

Beauty lies in the detail.

The manufacture of aircraft involves precision
and attention to detail. In this case, it reflects
in the interiors, where Ellipse has incorporated the colors and logo of each
sub-brand.
Thanks to this, the aircrafts become beautiful, meticulously thought-out pieces.

Applications

The business card becomes a model airplane.

Our work on the brand included a series of application designs. In addition to the package for aircraft owners, brochures, and the characteristic flags for airports, we drew inspiration from the brand’s originality and designed playful business cards. The customer can peel and build it to transform it into their own paper model of the Ellipse airplane.
